Enjoy Art at The Galeri Nasional Indonesia

Visited Galeri Nasional Indonesia for the first time last August. I love art and I always want to visit an exhibition (art exhibition) so when I got a chance to visit Galeri Nasional, I don't miss it. Last August I went to Jakarta with my co-workers, there are things we have to do there (work related things). Actually I have to spent a week there but I only stay about 2 days because of something and get back to Cirebon. Taking time to visit Galeri Nasional Indonesia before leaving Jakarta because long before I went to Jakarta I've heard about Pameran Lukisan Istana in Galeri Nasional Indonesia. Some paintings from Istana Negara where the president live and working, exhibited at the Galeri Nasional. Hm, of course it makes me really excited!

Alone, I went to Galeri Nasional before leaving Jakarta by train. You know, the location of Gambir Station and Galeri Nasional is so close, I can easily went to Galeri Nasional by myself then back to Gambir Station and go home haha. After registration I can enter the exbihition room and enjoy many awesome paintings there. I found some paintings from famous Indonesian painter like Basuki Abdullah and Affandi even there is painting made by Soekarno too! Although I'm not an expert about art and don't really understand about paintings but I do enjoyed all the paintings there. Greatly enjoyed! Hehe.

Coincindentaly there is another exhibition too in Galeri Nasional called Pameran Tjergam Taroeng. Of course I don't miss it too haha. Well, oppportunity does not come twice, isn't it? I don't know when I can visit an exhibition like this or visit Galeri Nasional again so I decide to visit Pameran Tjergam Taroeng too. This exhibition exhibit some artwork themed 'cergam (cerita bergambar)' or 'comic'. I found some paintings, statue and even a unique windmill (is it correct? haha).

Overall, I really enjoyed all the artworks I found in there and lucky to got a chance to visit Galeri Nasional hehe. Not only enjoyed the paintings but also know about Indonesian art history and the story behind an awesome paintings. I hope I can visit another exhibition too next time :)

Note: Visitor can take a photo inside the exhibition room with no flash.

H.O.S Tjokroaminoto - Affandi
I love Affandi's art style

Look at the awesome detail of this painting! Love the colors too!

Gadis Melayu dengan Bunga - Diego Rivera.
There is a stories behind this painting painted by famous Mexican painter. The painting had been so protected by Mexican government but somehow Soekarno, Indonesian 1st president, can persude President Lopez to gave this painting to Soekarno. Even Lopez have to make a presidential decree so this painting can be brought to Indonesia, just wow haha.

Penangkapan Diponegoro (Diponegoro's Arrest) - Raden Shaleh

Another painting by Affandi

Some vintage photos also on display on digital screen

Rini - Ir. Soekarno
Sketch finished by Dullah and was left unfinished until Soekarno back to Bali again and surprised Dullah by finishing the painting by himself and became nice painting like this. Although the title is 'Rini' but until know no one know exactly who is this lady painted by Soekarno.

A duplicate of legendary Henk Ngantung's painting, Memanah (Archery).

Slanting Right Floor - Budi Kustarto
Found this unique statue outside the exhibition room.
