Purple Hair

During quarantine a.k.a #stayathome #dirumahaja I can't help but thinking to coloring my hair since I have nothing to do at home (besides cooking and cleaning the house of course xD). It's been a while since I coloring my hair, the last time I dyed my hair was about 3 years ago. How I miss it so much hahah. I always want to dye my hair purple so finally I decided to coloring my hair and buy all the necessities for it.

As usual I try to do a research before I dye my hair. I collect any information about DIY bleaching and hair coloring because based from my previous experience I always kinda failed when I try to bleach and coloring my hair by myself. And of course because I want to avoid damage my hair hair as much as possible. Believe me, bleaching process will DAMAGE your hair if you didn't do it properly. Moreover if you use CHEAP PRODUCT and do it WITHOUT the correct method you will surely ended up crying for your mistake and got damaged hair. I watch many Youtube video tutorial and reading some articles, and it help me to understand all about bleaching & hair coloring.

Here's some tips for you guys who want to try bleaching and coloring hair at home:
1. Do some research about bleaching and coloring hair as much as possible, it will help you a lot and you can find some tips about it too. You can googling and watch Youtube video, there are so many info you can get on the internet.

2. If you want to dye your hair with bright colour such as red, blue, pink, purple, etc and you have natural dark haircolor then you HAVE TO bleach your hair first. Because there is no possibility the colour will appear in your dark hair. Just as if you are coloring black paper with bright colors, the color will not come out. There are some level in hair bleaching, level 1-10, the more vibrant or light the haircolor you want, the more you have to make your hair lighter by bleaching it. For example: blue, red, green or dark purple/violet = you have to bleach your hair to level 7-8. Silver colour and pastel colour = bleaching level 9-10. Usually it took more than one time bleaching process to gain level 9-10 from black hair to lightest blonde.

3. Use good quality products to bleach your hair. Based on my experience, I once try to bleach my hair using a cheap product and it makes my hair so dry and branched. If you have much money to spend for bleaching & coloring your hair, then you can use Pravana products. I never try it because the price is so damn expensive for my wallet LOL but I read many positive review and testimony about Pravana bleaching powder and hair dye, they said it didn't damaged their hair at all and it's better if you use Olaplex too (kind of hair serum to protect your hair). You can mix Olaplex into Pravana bleaching powder and voila! you will have nice result without damaging your hair.

But if you didn't have much money to spend like me, you can have another alternative, there are some good products with low price to use like: Makarizo, L'oreal and Matrix. This time I use Makarizo for the first time and honestly I love the product! It didn't damaged my hair so much! It still makes your hair a bit dry tho' but it's not too severe :)

4. Use Olaplex no.1 to your bleaching powder if possible, it will protect you hair from damaged. It is a bit pricey but I read a lot of nice testimony of how good the product is. You can find the 'share in jar' with more affordable price. You can mix it to any bleaching product, not just Pravana.

5. Mix your bleaching powder with developer to help lift your bleaching colour level. Use developer 6% or 9%, I didn't recommend to use developer 12% because I'm afraid it will damaged your hair so much, especially for beginner who will bleach your hair for the first time. The key is do your research PROPERLY about hair bleaching to avoid any unwanted problems.

6. It's hard to bleach & dye my hair only by myself so for me I recommend you guys to ask other people at home to help you bleach / dye your hair. I have done it before, I try to do it all by myself and the result is always not so good, it's hard to bleach or dye my hair especially the back part. You HAVE TO apply the bleaching powder / hair dye evenly to every part of your hair to have nice result, so better to have someone to help you if possible.

7. Take care of your hair more often and properly after you bleach & coloring your hair because it's hard to maintain the colour and to keep your hair shiny and healthy after bleaching or coloring. You will have dry hair so it's better to use conditioner, hair mask, and vitamin regularly. Remember, there is always some effort to everything including having a nice and healthy hair ;)

8. Last but not least, personally I recommend you to bleach & coloring your hair to a nice & trusted salon rather than to do it by yourself at home. because there is still possibility anything could go wrong eventhough you already prepare for it. If you still want to try it, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your reasearch first and use good quality products.

9. Prepare the tools for bleaching & coloring such as, plastic bowl & comb, gloves, etc. Avoid contact beetwen bleaching powder to your skin because it may cause irritation.

10. And for hair dye / hair colour products, it depends to your budget. For expensive one: Pravana, Artic Fox, Manic Panic, etc. For cheap but good one: Matrix, Makarizo, Freshlight Schwarzkopf, Beautylabo or Miranda. For Miranda: I use it for the first time to color my hair purple, it have nice result but it's also makes my hair a bit dry.

Sometimes the price of a product really affect the quality. The expensive one tend to have long lasting colour and makes your hair nice and soft. I have try Manic Panic before, the colour didn't last really long but it didn't makes any damaged to my hair. Pravana hair color is by far the most recommend by many people because it's long lasting and it's makes your hair soft. I really want to try it someday hehe.

If you want affordable and good quality one, I can recommend you to Freshlight Schwarzkopf or Beautylabo. The two products I have try before. It's cheap, have a nice result and easy to apply. I read some review about Korean brand hair color and also Matrix and Makarizo hair color, it looks like they have a nice product too. Feel free to googling about it and buy the hair color based on your choices and preferences :)

Anyway, this is my purple hair color result :D
For bleaching I use Makarizo ultimate bleaching powder mix with 9% developer (also Makarizo). and hair color product I use: Miranda purple. I didn't use Olaplex at all because as I mention before, it's a bit pricey for my wallet hahaha. At first I want to bleach my hair twice to reach bleaching level 9-10 but after just one time bleaching process I got nice result of level 8-9 bleaching! So happy!

I try to bleach my hair by myself, the result is quite good, I got level 8-9 bleaching. But the back part of my hair is uneven haha. That's why I suggest you guys to ask for help if you want to bleach your hair, so you can get nice and even result. For coloring/dyed, my mom help me to dyed my hair purple so I have nice result fufufu~ thank you mom! xD

Before I bleach my hair
Bleaching result. Pardon my bare face xD
Having blonde hair really didn't suit me LMAO

The back part, see.. it's uneven haha

It's looks purple pink, I kinda love the result hehe. Actually I want violet purple but I choose the wrong shade, I use Miranda purple MC-19 instead of Miranda rose purple MC-13. I will try the violet one next time :D

Oh almost forgot, ramadan mubarak everyone!
Happy fasting and stay healthy! Ramadan this year is slightly different from the previous year beacuse of the quarantine but do not let this become a barrier for us to practice worship to Allah. Be safe, don't forget to wash your hands and please, stay at home! :)
